Our adventure finding a cottage on Tybee Island and turning it into a luscious retreat for our family, friends, and rental guests including pets. We may be crazy but think people will enjoy taking their pets with them on vacation and we are optimistic that they will appreciate the opportunity and respect our cottage and furnishings. I have had several inquiries for information on renting our Cottage. Contact www.mermaidcottages.com for additional information on renting Paws & and Paddles.

The MerMaids are Coming...
We are renting the Cottage! The MerMaids arrived with lots of great advice and a long check list. They are very detailed and want our Cottage to be the best rental experience possible for our guests. We had a few items left and we made sure that we got them all done before the Cottage was made available for rent. We weren't really sure about the retractable clothes line...but after installing it we realized it was a great place to hang towels and clothes since it was next to the outdoor shower. So again they were right...just like they had been on the Webber grill. We enjoyed smoking tuna steaks one night and oysters in the shell the next...best darn tuna I ever ate...really. We cleaned and organized till we were ready to drop. I may have been a little over the top...I even labeled all the cabinets and the pantry. I always like to know where to put things when helping in someone's kitchen so I thought it might be helpful. We bought new pots, pans, dishes, a killer blender, coffee maker, coffee grinder, and plastic ware, dishes, cups, bowls, etc...for outside and any little ones. I made a mini office in a deco-file box with note cards w/Paw Prints...of course, stamps, postcards of the Tybee Lighthouse, scissors, stapler, paper clips...tape measure...u name it...it's in there! Mike thought that was a little over the top...but he made sure to leave charcoal, and a L.L. Bean sun shelter, a beach blanket, I had the sand pails and shovels covered...we where pretty sure by then we had it covered! Then I remembered we did not have oyster knives! Bowies Seafood shop is within a stones throw of the cottage...and they had been out of them. I walked over and sure enough they had them...so now...we were done. We left feeling good and were hopeful that our first guests would have some wonderful Tybee Tyme...
